On Sunday, Thane Police in Maharashtra arrested two individuals after a 19-year-old teenager was reportedly kidnapped, assaulted, and robbed.
The teenager, a Thane city resident, reported that on Saturday, a group of six individuals allegedly demanded money from him after showing a screenshot that purportedly indicated a "cryptocurrency transfer," .
When the complainant refused to hand over any money, the six individuals forcibly bundled him into a vehicle and took him to a location near a bridge on the Mumbra bypass. There, they assaulted him and stole the Rs 3,000 he had, according to the FIR cited by the news agency on Sunday.
The suspects have been identified as Babu Kaif, Arshad Adil Ansari, Amir Khan, Akib Arif Khan, Mohammad Adil Ansari, and Farhan Sheikh. They are also accused of forcing the 19-year-old to record a video stating that he owed them money before releasing him.
Arshad and Akib have been apprehended, and efforts are underway to locate the remaining suspects, according to the Naupada police station's station house officer.
